CVCS is a 21st Century School that knows how important technology is! We are adding Smartboards (Interactive Whiteboards) in all Elementary classrooms. Smartboards assist the teacher in making lessons fun, interactive, and educational for the students. They also assist students in learning technology and by providing a way to differentiate instruction to meet their needs. CVCS teaches using the Mulitple Intelligence Approach to Learning and Smartboards enhance this method.

They provide ways to show students anything which can be presented on a computer’s desktop (educational software, websites, and others). It also allows teachers to record their instruction and post the material for review by students at a later time. The following lists more ways the smartboard can be used:

- Presentations created by student or teacher

- Digital storytelling

- Brainstorming

- Reinforce skills by using on-line interactive web sites

- Diagramming activities

Smartboards are becoming the classroom technology of tomorrow. The smartboard is one of the best tools anyone could have invented to add to the classroom. Smartsboards at CVCS assist students in becoming the leaders of tomorrow!

Advanced Placement Courses, or AP, are college-level courses that a student can take during high school. Most four-year colleges in the United States, and colleges in more than 60 other countries give students credit on the basis of AP Exam scores. By entering college with AP credits, students will have more time to move into upper level courses or pursue a double-major. They also help students acquire the skills and habits they will need to be successful in college, such as improvement of writing skills, problem-solving abilities, and time management skills, discipline, and study habits. These tests are given every spring by CollegeBoard, there is no maximum or minimum number a student is required to take. When students take these courses with CVCS they will be given the skills they need to pass this test and earn college credit. All AP courses have passed the stringent requirements of the recent AP audit.

Our goal at Chino Valley Christian Schools is to honor and please God in all that we do. We have a challenging, Christ-centered curriculum that will prepare students for high school and college. We use the latest and best technology to help students excel in the academic challenges of the 21st century. Our teachers are highly qualified, care deeply about each student, and are willing to partner with parents in the discipleship of their teenager. We use a “Multiple Intelligence” approach to our curriculum to ensure that each student has the opportunity to reach their maximum academic potential. With small class sizes, advanced technology, a family atmosphere, and teachers that care, CVCS is great place for students to grow spiritually and excel academically.

Kindergarten:

Our Kindergarten is a full day program from 8:30am-2:45pm. Kindergarten students begin to read, write, and attain math skills. Our reading program focuses on phonics, phonemic awareness, high frequency words, and comprehension. When combined, these elements create readers in our students. The daily schedule includes reading, writing, language arts, math, bible study, science, and history. Students learn by using the Multiple Intelligence Approach: a multi-sensory teaching technique that considers each student’s learning styles. Kindergartners also attend weekly music, art, physical education, library, and computer classes, which enhances their social, emotional, intellectual, and physical development.

Transitional Kindergarten:

Our Transitional Kindergarten Program allows students to develop and enhance their skills at a slower pace. If a student masters all skills in the TK program, as well as our K Program, they can be advanced into our First Grade with an assessment. If they are not ready, they will then be placed in our Kindergarten Program the following year. This program really provides the students with an opportunity to grow and reach mastery in important skills that they will need in order to be successful in their academic careers.

TK, K, and 1st grade Classrooms:

The TK, K, and 1st grade classrooms are large rooms with a bathroom in them. The classrooms are located towards the front of our school next to the school office. The students have their own play structure and grass area for recess and lunch that is separated from our older students.

1st- 5th Grade Program

The elementary program at CVCS is unique and designed to meet the needs of each of our students. We know that we are not just a school, but a family. CVCS offers low class sizes with highly qualified teachers. Our Christ-centered curriculum provides the best opportunity for your child to learn and advance in all areas of academics. The core curriculum of our Elementary Program is thorough in scope and sequence following the California State Standards and beyond. The core curriculum (Reading, Language Arts, Writing, Math, History, Science, and Bible) is taught daily emphasizing mastery in all subjects. We also offer a specialized curriculum weekly in music, art, physical education, library, and computers. This encourages our student’s creative and athletic talents to be enhanced to their fullest potential. State testing is conducted each year for all grades. Chino Valley Christian Schools’ students typically test out at 2.5 + years above their grade level.

Our students compete against other Christian schools in Spelling Bees, Science Fairs, Math Olympics, Speech Meets, and many more. CVCS participates in Outreach Ministries that allow students and parents to help people in need. There are educational field trips for all grades including community locations, museums, plays, zoos, and overnight trips for the upper grades. (Field trips are subject to change year to year)

“We Challenge, Nurture, and Inspire Every Child Academically and Spiritually.”

Elementary and Middle/High School

Multi Cultural Day is a great day that provides students with information about the many different cultures that surround us each and everyday. This year the students learned abour Mexico, Italy, China, Greece, Holland, and France.

The students were lead from country to country by middle school tour guides thoughout the morning. In each country the teacher presented information about the country and the culture. Then the students had a chance to make a craft/souvenir that represented the culture. Before they left to their next destination, they took out their passports and had them stamped.

Everyone had a great time! This will be a day to remember.

Preschool

Preschool had an amazing day with Multi Cultural Day. Preschoolers learned about the countries and cultures of Cuba, China, Italy, and South America.

They started off in their own rooms and had a chance to listen to music, taste food, make a craft, and learn information about their classes country. Soon after they rotated to the different classes and learned about the other countries in the preschool building.

After they traveled around the countries, they went outside for some fun. There the students participated in a Trike-a-Thon, cake walk, and jumper! There were a lot of smiling faces and happy laughs heard. Everyone had a blessed day with lots of enjoyment.

In keeping with our commitment to provide a quality education, CVCS has begun an after school enrichment program that incorporates the Mult-Intelligence approach to education.

We are having a fall session that started September 28th and will end December 8th. Then our spring session will begin February 7th and end week of April 11th. This fall we offered Violin, Clarinet, Art, Cheerleading, Cooking/Crafts, and Spanish. The students are having a great time and learning a lot while doing it. The classes start at 3:15 pm and end at 4:15 pm.

These classes provide an opportunity for your child to have extracurricular activities that will enhance their learning and develop their God-given abilities. We are going to recognize all of our students who participate and complete an enrichment class by awarding a “MI” certificate at the conclusion of each 10 week session.

Keep your eyes out for our Spring session schedule to see what classes we will be offering next!

There was not only friendly competition on the lanes, but in eating pizza as well!!! There were plenty of smiles and laughter as the evening proved to be a memorable time for all. This is just one of our many planned activities this year to promote and instill the love of family and unity amongst our school community.
